Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
